My older brother uses the word triggered that way, accusing me of being “triggered” and over sensitive when I get annoyed with something he says, but he’s a major dick when it comes to mental health topics. He’s also one of those people who uses “autistic” as an insult. He’s also one of those who says people with anxiety need to just “get over it”.

This person was talking about people who say they’re “triggered” when really they’re just squicked out or something. People use that as an excuse to make triggered jokes, since apparently that’s who they’re trying to make fun of or something. And like, I think some people did actually appropriate the word back in like 2012 or whatever, but I’m pretty sure that was stamped out pretty quickly, and these days it’s just assholes seeing unusual triggers and deciding, well, that can’t be a real source of trauma for anyone, this person must be misusing the word!

saisai-chan:

someone faked a quote from Horikoshi saying All Might is bi, and it broke my friend’s heart to find out it was fake, b/c she was so, soso happy to hear about it, b/c she’s also bi

guys…. don’t post/create fake stuff like that b/c you’ll get people’s hopes up, and then they’ll come crumbling down when they find out it’s fake.

especially on places that are supposed to have official, confirmed information.

you’ll always have your headcanons and the content you create. but please don’t post or make fake stuff like that claiming that Horikoshi himself said it. it’s not fair to anyone, and you may hurt others in the process.

(for those curious: this is the post in question. the original translation of “breaking up” was a mistranslation that’s been corrected in other translations, including the official, and someone edited the wikia with a fake quote and no source. also, please, DO NOT go after the person who posted the quote b/c they had no idea it was fake when they posted it. it’s not their fault)
