why are non-millennials so personally offended by everything? like if i’m still wearing my jacket indoors, it’s because i’m cold, not because i disrespect your home/your classroom !! if somebody has got your order wrong, it’s because they’re very busy and simply made a mistake, not because they’re trying to jeopardise your meal !! if somebodies phone rings during a meeting/lecture, it’s because they accidentally forgot to put it on silent, not because they want to disrupt your speech !! just calm down, sharon, not everything is about you

my personal favorite is when you yawn and they’re like “am I boring you?”

like bitch i’m running on five hours of sleep and chronic anxiety

As a non-millennial (Gen X), I see this complaint as actually OP taking things quite personally. No one actually has to put up with you if you ignore common manners and preparations (dress in warm layers/do better with turning your phone to silent, etc), especially if these have been made clear to you and they apply to everyone.

Nobody should ever be yelled at for anything (especially understandable mistakes on food orders), period.

But OP seems to be personally offended that anyone can be called out in any way for not doing what everyone else in the same situation is managing to do, and I’m getting too old and grumpy to have much patience with that.

omg yes you got me that’s exactly why I made this post I just hate having to follow rules wow 100% accurate well done

manners are a social construct and a lot of them were made up by the upper classes in order to gatekeep/have another thing to feel superior about.

some etiquette is good and has solid reasoning behind it. stuff like not interrupting people, chewing with your mouth closed, etc. if you can give me one good reason jackets or yawning belong in that category, like an actual reason that goes beyond making the worst possible assumption about someone’s motivations, i’ll take my damn jacket off in your house. otherwise i’m gonna declare it an arbitrary rule that needs to die.
