Here’s my Battle Tree team! They got me a 36 win streak in super singles before Ferrothorn PP stalled me to death.

Pheromosa is Hasty, Celesteela is Adamant, and Toxapex is Sassy. Perfect IVs all around except for Toxapex’s speed. The beasts are EV trained in attack and speed, while Toxapex is trained in sp. defense and HP. Outside of the aforementioned Ferrothorn, the only things that have really given this team trouble are Charge Beam and bad RNG. Both Celesteela and Toxapex are bulky enough to survive a few electric attacks, especially if I have at least one Stockpile up, but Charge Beam just sends that to hell. I have Explosion on Celesteela mainly to stop Charge Beamers before they get rolling.

I’m not sure exactly how much Pheromosa’s Expert Belt helps. I’m thinking about using Fightinium Z instead so I’m less at the mercy of the RNG during the occasional battle that comes down to whether or not I can get a High Jump Kick off.

If you’ve played through Sun and Moon, you probably remember that at a few points you team up with Hau for a double battle. There are two important things to note about Hau’s AI:

  • He’s aware of the additional effects of damaging moves and will try to take advantage of them.
  • He will use his starter’s Z-Move if he sees a good opportunity.

However, he apparently can’t tell the difference between a damaging move and its Z-powered version. Meaning that if he sees both a good moment to use a Z-Move, and a good moment to try for an additional effect, he’ll think he’s killing two birds with one stone by using the Z-Move.

Meaning that if you have a burned Pokémon, and Hau has Primarina, he will try to heal your burn with Sparkling Aria. However, what will probably actually happen is that he kills your own Pokémon with Hydro Vortex.
