i remember back before hgss were announced, one part of the fandom was 100% convinced johto remakes were on the way, and another part was 100% convinced frlg was a one-off thing. the result was the first camp grasping at the flimsiest of straws to build a case for why johto remakes were gonna happen, and a lot of it read exactly like the sort of shit you see in “[region] confirmed” memes. i’m not sure how many people making the memes actually remember that beautiful piece of fandom history.
I really………hate how genuinely cool stuff can suddenly become gross and embarrassing because some people who like it are embarrassing and it ends up being unenjoyable for people who jus like it and are decent about it
