why are vidya journalists like this

hey what the fuck

Hey, y’all wanna maybe think twice before reblogging this? Not saying there isn’t criticism and discussion to be had here, but this particular clip was first spread on Twitter by former game journalist and current “centrist” shill, Ian Miles Cheong, to prove some point about how you have to be good at a video game to review it (oblivious, of course, to the fact that many game news outlets assign journalists to certain games, regardless of their forte). While this video might be an extreme example, isn’t it kind of elitist to shame someone for not having a particular skill set geared towards a genre of games? Is his coverage any less valid if it’s not the type of game he likes or often plays? I think most of us on this site are better than “how can you be this bad at video games but still paid to write about them?”. Once again, not saying this video isn’t worth a cringe or two, just saying I’m getting some serious GamerGate flashbacks from the way y’all are ganging up on this guy.

Here’s the Twitter of Dean Takahashi, the man who recorded this gameplay. He’s wrote some of his personal thoughts on the issue down there.
