what has helped me that i told my therapist two therapists ago is imagining my brain like an rpg dungeon and the urges/obsessive thoughts/what have you are the shadow monsters that i have to slay with my big sword & giving your Ass Thoughts a “physical form” definitely makes it seem more possible to eventually defeat them

and like if you accidentally leave a hole in your defenses and they damage you a couple times that doesn’t mean you’re weak. there are plenty of ways to recover your hp & maybe you just gotta level up a little more before you feel prepared to challenge the stronger ones later. and when you return to them they might seem easier to challenge than they were before.

& even if you’re the same level as before, things are always SO MUCH BETTER when you’re properly equipped (in a better mindset, Not Having A Panic Attack, etc.) than when you’re not. even if you’re the Highest Level In The Game you’re not gonna be able to do much when you’re unarmed & have no heal potions ready and the Shit Thoughts attack you when you’re vulnerable. Shit Thoughts tend to do that cuz they don’t play fair. but it doesn’t make u weak at all.
