Since Monolith Soft is working on BotW, it should be assumed that the map size would be huge – they’re known for games like Xenoblade Chronicles, which has a map so expansive it takes fourteen minutes of sped up footage to get from one end to the other of… not even half the world. So I took it upon myself to compare the map size of BotW to that of Xenoblade Chronicles X, a similarly large game that was released on Wii U just last year. As it turns out, X won, by about one Skyrim.

Here’s the thing though. X’s map is mostly water.

And yet, if you’ve played the game, you know how much of a sheer thrill it is to explore. There is so much to it it’s unbelievable. Look at this world that Monolith Soft designed and put so much detail into. This is what BotW is going to be.

I’m ready.

I’ve put around 550 hours into X and I’m still occasionally discovering new places. Shit’s huge.
