if you actually call disabled people “differenly abled”, “challenged” “handicapped” or “handicapable” i will immediately stop caring about any opinion you have on anything involving people with disabilities and the struggles we face.

and if you dont know why, thats just another reason why i shouldnt listen to you.

just to clear a few things up, i get some people cant help but be ignorant, thats not what this post is about.

its about people who are so ignorant that they dont even know why these words are harmful, thinking theyre educated enough to talk about disabled issues.

also, for those of you trying to tell me/going to try and tell me handicap or handicapable isnt harmful in anyway, you should remember that not only has it been used as a sugarcoating term, another way for people to avoid using the word disabled, but is also usually used for objects, like elevators, parking spaces and washrooms, so to have it used for a person can be feel dehumanizing. that is why i included it.

i dont have an issue with ignorance, only with ignorant people talking about issues that theyre clearly ignorant on.

thats what this post was about.
