i feel like i need to clarify because people keep bringing up hobo and glunkus – hobo and glunkus weren’t conceived as memes, they were literally just someone had a dream about new cats in neko atsume and then people drew it based on their description. BODE was explicitly described as being a meme in the dream and it became a meme in real life. a meme that crossed the boundary of the dream world to become a meme in reality.
