Member of the Gust Sound Team. Creator and composer for the Ar tonelico and Surge Concerto Series, creator of the

Hymnos, Carmena Foreluna, and   

Ar Ciela languages to his series. Also composed for the Atelier Series and other Gust titles.

Akira Tsuchiya joined Gust in 1998, making him the 3rd composer to be hired by the company. The first game he composed for Gust was for Atelier Elie. He is the lead composer to the Atelier Gramnad series (Judie, Viorate). Around the year 2000 he had pitched an idea to the company to make a new RPG, which would be the Ar tonelico series, however his idea was rejected being the reason that players would not be interested. He was then returned as composer and would move on to compose for Atelier Iris Eternal Mana, in which he helped compose the opening with vocals provided by Haruka Shimotsuki who he hired, as well as adding features to the game.

After composing for Atelier Iris Eternal Mana, the company Banpresto contacted Gust that they wanted to do a collaboration. The producer of Banpresto, Atsunori Kawachi helped and provided ideas to the making of Ar tonelico. Then in 2006, thanks to Banpresto, the first Ar tonelico game for the series was released and the last game to the series was released in 2010. Next began his next series which would be, Surge Concerto. Consisting of the games Ciel/Ar nosurge which released in the time frame of 2012-2014 in Japan, and shared connections to his Ar tonelico world. Tsuchiya had full control to all his games, he was part composer, director, sound director, game planner and had many other roles. Akiko Shikata is considered the lead vocalist for Tsuchiya’s games.

Tsuchiya was also working on a new IP, a RPG and social network game called Chronos Materia, but the game was officially confirmed in 2016 to have been cancelled and the website has since then, been brought down. The reason for why it was cancelled is unknown.

Current Status: Akira Tsuchiya

is currently employed by KOEI TECMO GAMES CO., LTD in their Gust branch. He is working on the game/anime, “Kakuchou Shoujokei Trinary.” He is going to be one of Koei Tecmo’s 2017 graduates, in which he will be promoted to Senior Manager.

Aww, Chronos Materia was cancelled? I wasn’t following it that closely, but it looked intriguing.
